A couple of weeks back, I joined my friend Snowstorm for an outdoor marathon on the western side of the state. We engaged in activities like boating, turkey hunting, and frogging.(Incase you missed the recap from that weekend, you can watch it HERE). After missing my chance at the turkey he put me on, I was determined to redeem myself by catching some frogs. It was truly a fantastic weekend, spent with a great friend, immersed in the beauty of the outdoors.
I had only tried frog legs once before, prepared in the most typical manner. This time, I decided to experiment with a recipe inspired by chicken wings, as that's essentially how they taste. Unable to choose between ranch or garlic Parmesan for flavor, I flipped a coin and well, garlic Parmesan won!
For a visual/ hands-on demonstration of how I prepared this recipe, you can follow and check out Bloom Outdoors on Tik-Tok.
Ingredients:
For the marinade—
1 dozen frog legs
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup milk
1 cup garlic Parmesan sauce/ marinade
1 egg
1 tbsp. Kinders The Blend seasoning
1 tbsp. Parmesan & Herb Seasoning
Garlic powder
For the breading—
2 cups flour
2 tbsp. Parmesan & Herb Seasoning
2 tbsp. Parmesan cheese
Other—
4.5 oz. peanut oil
Directions:
In a spacious bowl with a secure lid, combine frog legs, heavy whipping cream, milk, garlic Parmesan sauce, egg, Kinders The Blend, Parmesan & herb seasoning, and garlic powder.
Thoroughly mix the ingredients, cover the bowl, and refrigerate for 12-24 hours, giving it an occasional shake.
Once the frog legs have marinated, take them out of the fridge.
Heat peanut oil in a large saucepan until it reaches 350°F.
Prepare the breading by blending flour, Parmesan & herb seasoning, and Parmesan cheese.
Coat each frog leg generously in the flour mixture, ensuring complete coverage. Repeat until all frog legs are coated.
Gently place a few frog legs at a time into the hot oil. Fry for approximately 5 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
Using tongs, remove the fried frog legs from the oil and place them on a plate lined with a napkin to absorb excess grease.
While the frog legs are still hot, sprinkle them with Parmesan & herb seasoning.
Allow them to cool slightly before serving. These pair wonderfully with garlic Parmesan sauce or ranch dressing.
Enjoy!
